Zul did his undergraduate BSc studies at Queen's University in Kingston. He entered the University of British Columbia's medical school program in 2001. There, he received honours standing in several of his courses. Zul enjoys yachting, hockey, and hang-gliding as hobbies. He also has traveled extensively throughout the world.
